Requirements for The Surveyor developer CPU: Mac OS 10.3.9 or higher. For quick, easy, and effective html file editing, we recommend BBEdit from BareBones. A monitor with 1024 by 768 pixels is desirable.

Requirements for web server deployment: WebSTAR or Apache, and Lasso 7.1.3 or better on Mac OS X.3.9, Panther, or higher (X.4.x, Tiger), recommended. Please see the WebSTAR site for information about the WebSTAR server and LassoSoft for details about Lasso and its requirements. A database engine for data collection is required. This may be any engine supported by Lasso. Automatic support is supplied for by Lasso for MySQL, FileMaker (JDBC), LassoSQLite, ODBC, and JDBC databases.

Requirements for The Surveyor developer CPU: Windows 98 or better (Windows 2000 or XP required for Lasso 7.1.3 service). For best performance, we recommend at least a 2GHz processor. The Surveyor requires a minimum of 13MB RAM, 40MB is recommended. For quick, easy, and effective html file editing, we recommend BBEdit from BareBones. A monitor with 1024 by 768 pixels is desirable.

RedHat Linux 4 web servers are formally supported for Lasso. Red Hat Fedora has been successfully made to run Lasso, after applying a few easy 'tweaks' and pointers. A database engine for data collection is required. This may be any engine supported by Lasso. Automatic support is supplied for by Lasso for MySQL, FileMaker (JDBC), LassoSQLite, ODBC, and JDBC databases.

Deployment of The Surveyor requires Lasso to link your web server to your response database (see above): Please see the LassoSoft web site for information about Lasso and its requirements for Mac OS X, Windows, and RedHat Linux 4 web servers. A database engine for data collection is required. This may be any engine supported by Lasso. Automatic support is supplied for by Lasso for MySQL, FileMaker (JDBC), LassoSQLite, and Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Server through ODBC/JDBC.

Lasso database support permits use of many database emgines with The Surveyor, for example: directly to MySQL, and FileMaker (JDBC), by ODBC/JDBC connexion to Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Server; and internal support for SQLite.
